OPSWAT’s “Into the Breach” Cybersecurity Docuseries Premieres Globally on YouTube August 8

OPSWAT, a global leader in critical infrastructure protection (CIP) cybersecurity solutions, today announced the premiere of its highly anticipated docuseries, “Into the Breach” Episode 1: “Breaking the Firewall,” launching globally on YouTube on August 8, 2026.

Presented and commissioned by OPSWAT, and produced by Cyber King Productions, the debut episode, “Breaking the Firewall,” tackles one of the industry’s common and dangerous assumptions: that firewalls alone are sufficient to protect critical assets. Kari Byron of “MythBusters” hosts and guides viewers through hands-on experiments, cinematic demonstrations (including a physical firewall experiment involving a flamethrower and explosions), and expert insights. She explores how attackers can bypass traditional firewalls and how technologies such as data diodes can add a deterministic hardware-enforced layer of protection for critical environments which is unbreakable.

“I’ve spent my career as a storyteller using curiosity and critical thinking to explain emerging technologies, so translating the invisible world of cybersecurity into something visual and cinematic was an exciting challenge,” said Kari Byron, Host and Executive Producer of “Into the Breach.”

OPSWAT commissioned Cyber King Productions to turn complex and often invisible cybersecurity concepts into a visual, entertaining series for both technical and nontechnical audiences. Through experiments, expert interviews, and cinematic storytelling, “Into the Breach” helps executives, board members, students, and the public understand how attacks on critical infrastructure can affect everyday life.

“Cybersecurity protects almost every part of modern life, but we still explain it in language that most people do not understand,” said Benny Czarny, Founder and CEO of OPSWAT and Creator and Executive Producer of “Into the Breach.” “I wanted to make something people would actually want to watch, not another product video. With Kari, filmmakers, and cybersecurity experts, we turned invisible risks into something people can see and understand.”

Cyber King Productions creates original films and series that bring cybersecurity, technology, and complex scientific subjects to a broad audience. Combining cinematic storytelling, physical experiments, and expert knowledge, the company turns difficult and often invisible concepts into stories people can see, understand, and enjoy.

“Our goal was to make a real cybersecurity show, not a corporate video,” said Berry Blanton, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Cyber King Productions and VP of Creative & Brand at OPSWAT. “The cybersecurity had to be accurate, but the story also had to be entertaining. Cyber King Productions brings the production and storytelling experience, Kari brings the experiments to life, and OPSWAT brings the technical grounding – together we turned invisible concepts into experiments people can actually experience.”

The series is part of a broader OPSWAT investment in cybersecurity education, which includes free training through OPSWAT Academy and Czarny’s recently released book, “Cybersecurity Upside Down.”

Building Global Momentum

The August 8 YouTube release follows an international advanced screening tour spanning more than 100 locations around the globe. Travelers can also watch “Into the Breach” on select airlines’ in-flight entertainment systems.

Additionally, OPSWAT will host an exclusive advance screening of the episode at Black Hat USA 2026 on Wednesday, August 5, at 5:30 PM in the Vinyl Room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The screening will be followed by a live Q&A session with Benny Czarny and Kari Byron.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is Into the Breach?

Into the Breach is a cybersecurity docuseries presented and commissioned by OPSWAT, produced by Cyber King Productions, directed by Berry Blanton and hosted by Kari Byron. It uses cinematic storytelling, real-world experiments, and expert interviews to make complex cybersecurity concepts around critical infrastructure protection easy to understand for a broad audience.

What is Breaking the Firewall about?

Breaking the Firewall is the first episode of the series “Into the Breach.” It examines how firewalls work, how attackers can find ways around them, and why critical infrastructure requires multiple layers of cybersecurity protection.

Who produced the series?

Cyber King Productions led the physical and creative production and worked with OPSWAT, Kari Byron, and cybersecurity experts to bring the concept to life. OPSWAT conceived, commissioned, and presents the series. OPSWAT Founder and CEO, Benny Czarny, is the series’ creator and an executive producer and worked closely with director Berry Blanton.

Is this an OPSWAT product video?

No. “Into the Breach” is an educational and entertainment series. Although OPSWAT presents and sponsors the series, it was produced by Cyber King Productions as a professional docuseries and features cybersecurity experts from several different company backgrounds.

Who is hosting the docuseries?

The series is hosted by Kari Byron, best known as a co-host on the hit television series “MythBusters” and a co-founder of EXPLR.

Where and when can I watch it?

Episode 1 will be available on YouTube starting August 8, 2026. You can watch the official trailer today, register for the advance screening at Black Hat on August 5 and watch it now via select airlines’ in-flight entertainment systems.

Is there a cost to watch?

No. To maximize reach and remove barriers to essential cybersecurity education, OPSWAT is releasing the series entirely free to the public on YouTube.

How does the docuseries connect to Benny Czarny’s book, Cybersecurity Upside Down?

Both the book and the docuseries aim to flip conventional security thinking on its head by challenging common industry assumptions. They are also both suitable for audiences with limited cybersecurity knowledge but a curiosity to learn more. While the book focuses on a prevention-first mindset in cybersecurity and Benny’s personal journey, Into the Breach, Episode 1 debunks the myth that traditional firewalls are enough to protect highly sensitive OT (operational technology) environments.
