Company’s differentiated model based on Socialization-as-a-Service, positive reinforcement and enrichment resonates with pet parents. Zoom Room franchisees open more than one year delivered 15.1% year-over-year same-store sales growth during the combined Q2–Q3 period.
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Zoom Room Dog Training franchisees have delivered two consecutive quarters of double-digit year-over-year same-store sales growth, rising from 12.0% in Q2 to 18.2% in Q3 across the company’s 45+ unit system. The performance demonstrates the resilience of Zoom Room’s differentiated model at a time when growth across both franchising and the broader retail environment remains challenging.

The momentum follows a strategic reset launched in late 2025, when the company made the deliberate decision to pause new-unit development and focus on strengthening the foundation of the business. The company added new leadership, including former Petco CEO and Zoom Room investor Ron Coughlin as Chairman; Darris Cooper, one of the industry’s preeminent training leaders; and accomplished franchise development executive Jackie Mendes. Zoom Room also strengthened its franchisee support team, implemented custom operations and marketing technology platforms, and introduced new franchise management and support processes. The result is a business positioned to deliver long-term growth for its franchisees while addressing an unmet need in the dog-training market: pet parents who need training, socialization and enrichment to help their dogs become confident companions they can take more places and include in more of everyday life.
“2025 was a year of making smart, sometimes difficult choices about where we wanted to take Zoom Room,” said Mark Van Wye, founder and CEO of Zoom Room Dog Training. “We chose to pause development and invest in the fundamentals of the business: people, technology, operating efficiency, real estate strategy and the customer experience. Seeing that effort now translate into two consecutive quarters of double-digit same-store sales growth is incredibly encouraging.”
Unlike traditional dog-training businesses that operate primarily as transactional, appointment-based services, Zoom Room brings dogs and their families together on an ongoing basis through positive-reinforcement training, structured socialization, enrichment and community. Its Socialization-as-a-Service model is delivered through small group classes in an indoor gym environment where owners actively participate alongside their dogs.
“In all my years in small-unit operations and franchising, I’ve rarely seen this kind of momentum in same-store sales across an entire system. I’m incredibly excited by what we’re seeing at Zoom Room, and the credit belongs to our franchisees and Support Center team,” said Don Allen, COO of Zoom Room Dog Training. “What’s especially exciting is how we’re achieving it: not through deep discounts or promotions, but by getting better at the fundamentals every day. Stronger execution, better client experiences, smarter sales behaviors and greater consistency. That’s Kaizen in action: continuous improvement across the system. And I believe we’re only beginning to see what Zoom Room is capable of.”
Zoom Room’s recent performance comes as the company resumes franchise development, with recent franchise sales expanding its presence into new markets in Florida and Virginia. The company’s approach prioritizes sustainable unit economics, strategic site selection and markets where the concept can fill a meaningful gap in local pet services.
“Training gives dogs and their families a shared language, and socialization helps them use that language everywhere else,” said Ron Coughlin, Chairman of Zoom Room and former CEO of Petco. “Zoom Room has transformed dog training from a one-time transaction into an ongoing experience that brings pet parents and their dogs back again and again to learn, socialize and grow. That recurring engagement, combined with a scalable operating model, creates a compelling business model for franchise investors and operators.”
Zoom Room’s positive reinforcement-based training philosophy is supported by guidance from the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB), which emphasizes the importance of positive socialization and reward-based training in supporting behavioral well-being and strengthening the human-animal bond.
