Austin singer-songwriter Lurleen Ladd unveils the cover art for her fourth album, Reclamation, created by acclaimed New York-based artist Ashley Longshore.

When she shared her personal story and vision behind the Reclamation album, it was a no-brainer to want to be a part of it … I love all the songs she covers on the album as well!”

AUSTIN, TX, UNITED STATES, October 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Austin singer-songwriter and entrepreneur Lurleen Ladd has unveiled the newly commissioned cover art for her fourth album, Reclamation, created by acclaimed New York-based artist Ashley Longshore. The vibrant painting depicts Ladd at the microphone, surrounded by floating vinyl records and butterflies—a fitting visual for an album about transformation, self-expression and reclaiming the dreams that never truly disappeared. Reclamation arrives on all major streaming platforms October 10, 2026.

Known as one of pop art’s most audacious and unapologetic voices and an “avatar of pop feminism,” Longshore was a natural choice to bring Ladd’s vision to life. A fellow Gen X-er and Southerner, Longshore taught herself to paint in her college dorm before building an internationally recognized career whose art has been exhibited and collected around the world. Her collaborations include Gucci, Porsche and Maybelline.

Ladd was drawn to Longshore’s own journey as an independent female artist who forged her path in a traditionally male-dominated industry—an experience that resonates deeply with the message behind Reclamation.

“Since she herself struggled as an artist at first, especially as an independent female artist in a male-dominated industry, I felt compelled to have Ashley be a part of this album,” says Ladd. “I’m so grateful that she agreed to be part of this special project that has brought dozens of women 40+ together in one common vision: to reclaim the dreams that we first formed as teens and continue to fuel us today.”

More than a collection of covers, Reclamation boldly reimagines iconic songs of the 1980s—including music by Bruce Springsteen, Rick Springfield, INXS, Dire Straits, Pat Benatar and Robert Palmer—through the perspective of a woman reclaiming her voice, purpose and creative freedom. Produced by acclaimed pianist and producer Eddy Hobizal, whose career includes collaborations with Christopher Cross, Sara Hickman, Shawn Colvin, Patty Griffin, Lloyd Maines and former Ray Charles music director Dr. James Polk, the album transforms familiar classics into deeply personal and emotionally resonant interpretations.

Ladd’s own story embodies the spirit of Reclamation. After a successful 20-year career in social work and healthcare, she pursued her lifelong passion for music, launching her recording career in her 40s. Her experiences navigating an industry that often overlooks women over 40 ultimately inspired her to found Wavemakers Women and Music, a global movement empowering experienced women musicians and challenging outdated perceptions of age.

“I’m thrilled to help bring Lurleen’s vision to life through art,” says Longshore. “When she shared her personal story and vision behind the Reclamation album, it was a no-brainer to want to be a part of it. Having grown up in the ‘80s, I love all the songs she covers on the album as well!”

Reclamation will be released on all major streaming platforms October 10, 2026.

Ladd will celebrate the album’s release with a world premiere performance on Saturday, October 10, from 7–10 p.m. at Assembly Hall in Austin, Texas. Longshore’s original painting will be on full display at the event. For more info and tickets: LurleenLadd.com
